Rocked & Ripped
As of the date of this writing, this is the BulletBoys most recent album – having just been released last week. I actually had not been following what they were up to besides touring, and this one snuck up on me. I accidentally stumbled on it while looking for something else. I gotta admit – I’m really glad I did.
Rocked & Ripped consists of all cover songs (with the exception of a remastering of Smooth Up). I am really hot and cold on cover albums. They just have to hit the right nerve with me. For example – I was a huge Poison fan, but I hated the album Poison’d. Not their work – I am sure it’s fine. I just don’t like the style of songs that they covered (Southern/Classic Rock, for the most part).
I am sure that many people will have that opinion of Rocked & Ripped, but not me. It’s an extremely eclectic collection of songs, only a handful of which would even be considered “hard rock” songs. I dig that. I like a lot of diversity in my music, and to hear on of my all-time favorite bands throw a bunch of genres into one album? Fantastic.
